Nothing gets added. The slab you already own is ground and honed until the surface itself closes up and takes a shine.

- Aggregate exposure: grind deeper and the stone in the concrete shows. That is a choice, and it is not reversible.

- The honest limit: polishing shows the slab as it is, including old patches and pours. A badly spalled floor is a resurfacing job first.

We grind a small patch so you see the real aggregate and color before committing. Slabs vary more than people expect.

Strip and flatten
Anything on the surface comes off, then coarse metal-bond tooling flattens the slab and sets the exposure level.

Densify
A liquid hardener soaks in and reacts inside the concrete, so the surface takes a polish instead of dusting under it.

Hone up to the gloss
Resin tooling through the grits to the level you picked, then a guard coat. Floors are usually walkable the same day.

The finish
No. Epoxy adds a layer on top of the slab. Polishing removes material from the slab and refines what is left, so there is no film to peel, chip or lift.
Anywhere from a flat matte honed look to a mirror gloss. It comes down to which grit we finish at. We grind a test patch and let you pick off the real floor rather than a brochure photo.
Only if you want it to. Grind lightly and you keep the cream layer with a smooth even color. Go deeper and the stone comes through. It is a one-way decision, which is why the test patch matters.
Most sound ones. What rules a slab out is heavy spalling, deep cracking or a surface that has already failed. Those want resurfacing first, and we will tell you if that is what you are looking at.
Polished concrete is no more slippery than tile when dry, and a guard coat can be specified for grip. Standing water on a high-gloss finish is the risk, same as any hard floor.

The slab and the upkeep
Dust mop, and damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid anything acidic. No stripping, no resealing every year, which is most of the reason people choose it in the first place.
It is concrete, so it takes the temperature of the room. In a Gulf Coast summer most people count that as a feature. It also works well over underfloor heating.
They get filled before we polish, and they will still be visible as a line. Polishing is honest about the slab underneath. If you want cracks hidden, that is a resurfacing or coating conversation.
A typical room runs one to two days depending on square footage and how much comes off first. Floors are normally walkable the same day the polishing finishes.
